A Message from Jenna

"It started with a set of recipe cards with beautifully cramped handwriting, gifted from my mother in law. There was cake, peach pie, potato soup, pickled carrots, but also a colt bottle and horse laxative. I couldn't help but feel adoration for the value inside this old vintage recipe box. The same adoration I feel for a community of rural women, working hard, sharing their journey to a simpler lifestyle one recipe, photo or how-to at a time. How they care for their homes, land and families, the food they grow, prepare and consume. I am constantly inpsired by how much wisdom and grit they possess and wondered how I could gather it all up and have a "recipe box" of their knowledge and know how. Homegrown is an attempt to showcase not only the knowledge, but the beauty of this intentional lifestyle. My greatest hope is that you may be inspired to live a little more simple. That you may gain a favourite recipe for your family, or a new skill. Thank you for being here, for supporting homegrown and supporting women."
